CommunityConnect
CommunityConnect began as an app that allowed users to control their smart devices. Leadership planned to expand the app’s feature set and turn CommunityConnect into RealPage’s flagship mobile product. This required integrations with several consumer-facing products.
My role was to ensure that the user experience would not suffer during the evolution of CommunityConnect.
Designing with Ambiguity
I met with several designers and product owners to learn about the features of their individual products. This allowed me to understand how those features might be incorporated into the CommunityConnect app going forward.
Architecture
Taking these products and features into account, I created a navigation diagram to illustrate how one application could work.
Design
In order to manage the amount of development effort required I delivered phased designs in parallel. The first phase would involve minor changes to the styles of the original application. The second phase would bring the architecture diagram above to fruition.

Next Steps
I am currently participating in discussions with product leaders to define a roadmap for this initiative. Phase 1 designs are in development. Phase 2 designs will evolve as technical discussions continue, and we gather user feedback.
This project has allowed me to look beyond the pixels on a screen and think strategically. I enjoyed taking this big picture approach and learning more about how different products play into the larger ecosystem within the organization.
